I’m sure I won’t offend anyone if I say…2020 can eat it. It wasn’t the year anyone had planned or wanted. Don’t get me wrong, I’m an extremely lucky person to have remained healthy and getting by. But it was a tough year on most people and devastating for so many others.
For me, to be candid, working weddings through COVID-19 has been tough. I genuinely love shooting weddings and getting to work with the people I do. But I also genuinely believe in minimizing this pandemic as much as possible. It’s been tricky to navigate how to feel about those things together. There are certainly times when I’ve felt less creative, less driven. I’m sure everyone has.
Luckily that goes away when I’m actually doing my thing. Like Joe Gardner in Soul, I get in that zone. Plus, I am an optimistic person. I know there are always bright spots that make everything worth while. One big upside to last year was being able to spend time with a new office mate. My wife.
So yeah, this gallery should have been twice as full. I won’t look back at 2020 and want to go back. But I’ll still have some of my favorite memories ever. And I still I did some of my best work ever for some of the coolest people ever. Those are the bright spots I’m taking with me as I try to build on it and make next year great. I hope you have some of your own.
