Of all the countless engagement sessions I’ve done, this was my first that featured the actual proposal! Jessica was graduating with her masters and Mike used this as a guise to get her family pictures with the two of them and Jessica’s daughter, Jordyn. We had fun finding cool spots to shoot on Roosevelt Row and Jordyn even earned “Earth points” for picking up some garbage and doing her part to make the world a better place. Towards the end of the shoot, Mike changed into a blazer and I pretended to take pictures of them while secretly shooting video. (posted below) He then popped the question…to both of them!
As a beautiful gesture, Mike got Jordyn a ring too and wanted to make sure she was included. As you’ll see in the video, Jordyn did not initially take it well. The poor thing had a bad wedding experience before and got confused and thought she had to get married too (nothing to do with how much she loves Mike). But as you’ll see in the other pictures, once she realized it was a good thing, she happily put on her ring and they were all off after the proposal to celebrate with family.
I love this story because it’s sweet…and I’m sure will make for a lifetime of hilarious stories.
Here are some of my favorites images (and the video!) from their session.
