Self proclaimed punk rock nerds Jordan and Cameron knew they wanted something different for their Downtown Phoenix engagement session. When talking to them about it, Jordan mentioned vests Cameron had made for both of them that they will also be wearing to their Halloween themed wedding. There was also talk of something in the realm of cosplay. Then I heard LIGHTSABER. Yes. Please.

Picturing how I’d use these in an engagement session, I threw out the idea of doing the session entirely at night. No use of the sun whatsoever. If you know photography, you know how much we love using the sun and it’s glorious power. However, there is such a big world that opens up for you when you consider other techniques or methods of lighting up your subject. They were down and the challenge was on! We played with available light from the city, LED lights, flash, long exposures, and, of course, the light sabers. We even got access to an amazing rooftop!

These two got engaged in Vegas…and this session hit the jackpot! ;P Below are some of the many images I’m super proud of from our night engagement session.
