It takes a special kind of person to wake up early enough to be camera ready for a photo session at 5am. You’re in luck, Kaitlin and Zach are special people. I’m guessing they actually prefer the early morning more than most. They are always up to cool things. Hiking, fishing, building things, tandem bike riding, gardening, trying to beat each other at the shooting range. You name it. In fact, Kaitlin calls herself a professional hobby enthusiast in her Instagram profile. I like that. One of my favorite things in life is trying stuff. I’d call myself an amateur hobby enthusiast. I just need to harness more energy like these two to go pro.
The one hobby I’ve got down like them? Taking my dog everywhere I can. I’m so glad they brought their two pups. It’s always a favorite thing for me to photograph. They are family.
Here are a few of my favorites from their McDowell Mountain Preserve desert engagement session.
Shot with: Canon 5D Mark IV
Lenses used: Canon 24mm 1.4L, Canon 50mm 1.2L, Canon 135 2.0L
Sunrise sounds like it would suck for an engagement session, right? It’s actually one of my favorite things to do. Yeah, you have to get up pretty early. But you are starting your day making art with the person you love. Afterwards you can grab some breakfast and take a nap, and it’s still only like 10am. A sure fire way to have a great day. Plus, you beat the heat in the warmer months as well as the crowds. Let’s talk and find the best time for your session!
